July is the month for Lake Wylie sunflower photo sessions.
It is time for the ever popular sunflowers photo sessions!
I had a repeat client yesterday and we had planned on doing a photo session down by the pond in the row boat. While cleaning the studio I got an alert that said “Sunflowers Blooming!” So being a repeat client and following my lead (even after driving 1.5 hrs to see me) we jumped in our vehicles and went about 10 min down the road to the sunflower field. S
I took the wagon and “E” road in that up the hill to the flowers singing all the way. I grabbed a few other quick props like my favorite boho dream catcher, yellow hat to match the sunflowers and a tambourine. The tambourine and the dream catcher along with rocks were HIS props of choice:) BOYS! Find anything to play with.
I usually on spring these wild ideas on families I have shot before. After meeting me they know what to expect. And, that is to expect she may have some idea or location in mind that we didn’t chat about. It’s all about a feeling for me, the time of year, lighting etc.
Choosing clothes for your sunflower photo session.
I always suggest clients were light weight fabrics in jewel tone shades. Purple, blue, emerald green etc… If children are small let them wear as little as possible. The flowers bloom the first of July and its hot! There are no shade trees so be prepared to be warm. Have fun and show some individual style like the mom belows strong style.
Her edgy style always has me excited to photograph her and “E.” When I saw this shot I thought, “she looks like she was planted there in the field with the flowers and sprouted just a bit taller and a bit stronger!”
Sunflower photo sessions are worth the spending a little time in the late summer heat. My next portrait session with this mom and boy will be the row boat for sure!
