Creative maternity photographer featured in Voyager Magazine
“You would think the awards and publications for creative maternity photographer would be my proudest moments. I don’t want to downplay those because it is nice to be recognized for your art, but truly it’s the emails and small thank you notes I get from my clients. It’s capturing those memories for them that I am most proud of. It makes me happy to have clients return for more sessions.” (Excerpt from Voyager magazine)
“I am always honored when I am contacted by an expecting mother asking if I can photograph her growing baby bump. It is confirmation that I am doing something that you guys like.” ~Brandy NicCole
The Portrait Process for Creative Maternity Portraits
The beginning to a beautiful maternity portrait is listening to what mom wants and getting on the same sheet of music. We all are so much the same and we are also so very different. Photographing parents and especially expecting mothers has taught me that actually we are all super similar. We all want a gorgeous image of us expecting our baby. The style of image is what’s different. Its the style of image mom wants that I try to narrow down in our consultation. I like to see what she has in mind. Images are a great way to do that. I don’t mind if she shares my maternity portraits or others. I do always let moms know I never try to recreate and exact replica of any image. What fun is that? Lets make yours unique….
Choosing gowns is another huge part of prepping for your maternity photoshoot. We have a client wardrobe with big couture gowns, Anthropology dresses, Baltic Born, jewelry, crowns and wings.
Other Things to Think About Before Your Maternity Photoshoot
Are you including family or are you shooting alone?
Do you want to shoot both inside and outside or do you prefer studio only. This option is popular in July 🙂
Do you want to incorporate some mommy and me with your toddler?
Do you want a formal style or a more relaxed style session? Maybe both.
Is posed or documentary more your style?
These are all things we will chat about once you have scheduled your maternity session.
